Did you know that knee, hip or even back pain can originate from the way you walk? Gait analysis is the tool that allows us to pinpoint these imbalances before they become chronic injuries. At Semedi Salud, in Malaga, we carry out this assessment professionally and personally, so you can start taking care of yourself from the ground up.
What is gait analysis?
A gait analysis is a biomechanical assessment that evaluates how your foot lands when you walk or run. Using plantar pressure technology and movement observation, our team identifies whether there is overpronation, supination, flat foot, cavus or other alterations affecting the rest of your muscular and joint chain.
It is not just about analysing the foot itself, but understanding how that loading pattern affects the ankle, knee, hip and spine. A small imbalance in the gait can generate compensations that, over time, become the root cause of conditions that seemingly have nothing to do with the foot.
What problems can gait analysis reveal?
Many people come to Semedi with chronic discomfort and discover that the source was in the way they walk. These are some of the causes we can detect:
- Knee pain or plantar fasciitis in runners and active people.
- Hip discomfort or lower back pain of postural origin.
- Calluses, bunions and progressive foot deformities.
- Excessive fatigue in legs and feet at the end of the day.
- Recurring injuries that do not improve with standard treatment.
We often treat the symptom without addressing the root. This analysis allows us to act where the problem truly originates.
What does gait analysis at Semedi Salud involve?
At our clinic in Malaga, the assessment is carried out with a pressure platform and gait analysis system. The process includes a physical examination of the foot and lower limb, recording static and dynamic plantar pressures, and evaluating overall posture.
Based on the results, our podiatrist prepares a personalised report and, if necessary, designs custom orthopaedic insoles to correct the loading pattern. The aim is not only to relieve current pain, but to prevent new injuries from developing in the future.
When should you get a gait analysis?
You do not need to be in pain to benefit from one. We recommend it if you exercise regularly, spend many hours on your feet, have noticed asymmetric wear on your footwear, or have a history of muscular or joint injuries in the lower limbs. Prevention is always more effective and cost-efficient than treatment.
At Semedi we believe that taking care of yourself starts with understanding how your body works. Do not wait for pain to appear. Book your gait analysis appointment at our Malaga clinic and give your feet the support they need. You can also find us at our Malaga location.

Yes, we recommend bringing the footwear you use most frequently, especially your sports shoes. Sole wear patterns are a very valuable indicator in gait analysis and help the podiatrist to complete the diagnosis.
